As a QA Automation Lead, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of automated testing frameworks and strategies across web, mobile, and API platforms. You will be responsible for driving best practices in Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), API testing, Mobile automation testing, Non-Functional Requirement (NFR) testing, and Functional test automation. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the quality and reliability of the software products by establishing a scalable automation infrastructure and mentoring QA engineers..
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Strategy & Leadership: Define and lead the automation testing strategy across web, mobile, and API platforms, ensuring high levels of quality and reliability.
- BDD Implementation: Drive the adoption of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices using tools like Cucumber or SpecFlow, ensuring alignment between technical and business requirements.
- API Testing: Lead the development of automated API tests using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or SoapUI, ensuring backend services are robust and perform as expected.
- Mobile Automation Testing: Design and implement mobile automation frameworks for iOS and Android applications using tools such as Appium or XCUITest/Espresso.
- Functional Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts for functional testing across web and mobile applications using frameworks like Selenium, Cypress, or TestCafe.
- Non-Functional Testing: Lead efforts in NFR testing, ensuring testing for performance, security, and scalability requirements are implemented and adhered to.
- Test Frameworks & Tools: Design and implement scalable, robust test automation frameworks from scratch or enhance existing frameworks using industry-standard tools and libraries.
- Defect Management: Identify, log, and track bugs using defect management tools such as JIRA, ensuring defects are resolved promptly and efficiently,
- Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure quality is embedded into the development process from the beginning.
- Mentorship & Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior QA engineers, conducting code reviews and promoting best practices in test automation.
- Test Metrics & Reporting: Define and track key quality metrics to provide visibility into the health and stability of the automation framework and product releases.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in QA automation with a proven track record of leading automation initiatives.
- BDD Expertise: Strong experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber, SpecFlow, or JBehave, ensuring a clear understanding of user stories and business requirements.
- API Testing: Expertise in automated API testing using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or SoapUI to validate the robustness of backend services.
- Mobile Automation Testing: Extensive experience in mobile test automation using tools like Appium, XCUITest, or Espresso for both iOS and Android platforms.
- NFR Testing: Experience in Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) testing, with a focus on performance, load, and security testing using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or BlazeMeter.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Java, Python or JavaScript to create and maintain automation scripts.
- CI/CD Integration: Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, with experience integrating automated tests into tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Defect Tracking: Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or qTest.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with a commitment to developing junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical team
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience: Proficiency with modern testing frameworks such as Selenium and Cypress, alongside expertise in automation tools like Jenkins and TestNG for continuous integration and testing. Strong skills in reporting tools such as Allure and ReportPortal is a plus.
- Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with modern development tools, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
